Greetings and welcome to the Beer Safari! This is a blog about the exploration and appreciation of the world of beer. In future posts, we will look at the beer making process, various styles of beer, beer history, as well as evaluating individual beers.
The main goal of this blog is to help people appreciate beer. I’ll admit, I myself didn’t like beer the first time I drank it — or the second, or the third, and so on. In fact, I had been drinking it for years in college more out of my inability to afford other beverages than out of a love for beer itself before I finally started to like it. It was only when I began to learn about the beer making process for a research project that my opinion began to change. I started to think that beer was actually really interesting, and I even decided to try making it myself. It’s been five years since then. In that I’ve drank hundreds of different beers from around the world, brewed countless batches on my own, and I’m now on the cusp of starting my own nanobrewery and pub. Needless to say, I’ve developed a deep love for this drink and a desire to share it with others. But, beyond just sharing the beverage, I want to share my love for the drink and how I came to love it so much.
In my opinion, the only way to truly appreciate beer is to understand it — to understand how it grew and developed over time to become the product it is today, and also to understand just what goes into the individual beverage in your hand right now. That’s the purpose of this blog. I hope you stick around and enjoy the journey.
